If I'm going for a job interview,what should I do.?

This is the first time I'm doing this (interviewing for a job) , I just don't know what to do,should I sent a letter then make an appointment,or just call?Also,do I send them my resume? what are the proper procedures?And what do I need to know?How should I dress?Thanks a lot.
